Introduction When the Sun’s solar energy arrives at the Earth’s atmosphere, a portion of the energy is bounced back into space while the remainder is absorbed by the land and bounced back by the greenhouse gasses and that is a natural process called the Greenhouse Effect (MFE Australia, 2013). What are Greenhouse gasses? Greenhouse gasses are emissions that traps heat in the atmosphere (EPA, 2012). Main greenhouse gasses consists of Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Nitrous Oxide (NO2) and Fluorinated gasses (EPA, 2012). The burning of fossil fuels and deforestation by incineration are common sources of atmospheric CO2 emissions, since growing forests are being incinerated it rules out the chance of any plant removing carbon dioxide by photosynthesis (VanLoon Duffy, 2011, p. 182). Coal being burnt in a power station or a car running on petrol are examples for combustion of fossil fuels by humans. Ozone depletion is the depletion of the Ozone layer by the accumulati on of ozone depleting substances that are created by humans but what is the ozone layer? The ozone layer is positioned in the stratosphere around 15 to 30 kilometres over the earth’s surface, the ultraviolet rays from the sun arrives in the Earth’s atmosphere but these rays are harmful to the earth’s biome. Prolonged exposure to UV light can lead to skin cancer in humans, disrupt the growth in plants and disintegration of plastics.
